It is fair to say that every Manchester United fan knows that the new manager did everything in his power to sign Frenkie De Jong this summer, but failed to do so and had to sign Casemiro instead. So far, he has proven that he didn’t want the Brazilian midfielder by not playing him from the start of the games.

Erik ten Hag knew De Jong from their time together at Ajax when he coached him and turned him into one of the best players in the world in his position. They reached the Champions League semi-finals together, won everything in the Netherlands, and looked like an unstoppable force.

That was until the Dutch midfielder decided to sign with FC Barcelona in 2019. Ever since that day, he hasn’t been the same without his former manager at Amsterdam and he even has been relegated to the bench at the Camp Nou after some new youngsters have taken over his place on the team.

For that reason, Manchester United’s manager tried to convince him to rejoin him in England in order to save his career and let him help him get out of this situation. However, the 25-year-old footballer turned him down several times this summer and decided to stay in Spain and fight for his place.

What would he offer him?

Erik ten Hag could try to offer him some regular game time on the field. Something that he needs to become the best version of himself. He would also receive the full backing of his coach because he really likes him and believes he is the perfect man for Manchester United’s midfield for years to come.
