At the end of last season,  many Manchester United fans celebrated the exit of several players that had donned the famous Red and Black after their poor performance. The list of players included Jess Lingard, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani, and several others.

But like life generally, there were so many unknown incidents behind the scene that occurred at the club last season. One of the former players, Jesse Lingard had a sit down where he shed some light on the misconceptions about his exit from the club.

Lingard had strings of impressive moments at Manchester United but it was never on a consistent level as he was bearly give playing opportunities within the squad. But his one season on loan at West Ham showed the world his immense quality. The Hammers tried to sign him but United refused to let him go.

He was eventually forced to seat on the bench again last season with just brief cameos across the campaign. It was a huge topic among fans who knew how quality he is but we're puzzled that he wasn't even considered for games.

What was happening to Lingard?

The former Cristiano Ronaldo teammate revealed that he suffered from depression that was influenced by fans' abuses, his lack of games, as well as from family problems. He added that he tried finding solace in drinking but it only made it worse for him. After his contract was not renewed at the end of last season, Lingard left the club and joined the newly promoted Premier League club, Nottingham Forest.
