Manchester United’s top goal scorer in history knows a thing or two about being a striker, so when he was being interviewed by Times Sport, they obviously had to ask him about the Cristiano Ronaldo situation. The now manager of DC United did not hesitate and gave a very straight forward answer, which some will disagree.

The ex-England striker did not hold back when talking about his former teammate: “If the reports are true that Cristiano wants to leave the club, then Manchester United should allow him to leave the club, then United should go and get a new No. 9 in who is going to be there for the next three or four years”.

However, he also noted that the ‘Red Devils’ should be patient with the new manager, as Erik ten Hag still needs a little bit of time to stablish his philosophy: “My personal view is that United are not ready to challenge for the title now. So, the aim gas to be to build a team that can win the league in a few years, and you have to plan for that”.

What will happen with Ronaldo?

The Portuguese star looked for a new club all summer with the help of his agent Jorge Mendes, however he didn’t receive any offers. Now seems to be fully focused on Manchester United’s first game of the season this Sunday against Brighton. Cristiano claims he is fit enough to start the game now that Martial is injured.
