As the transfer window is coming to an end, Erik ten Hag has been looking for a way to shorten his squad. He believes that he has way too many players at his disposal, but some of them are not good enough yet to play regularly with Manchester United’s senior team. So, a lot of academy players could be loaned out.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Facundo Pellistri will stay at the club this summer after suffering an ankle injury. He is expected to be out for around two months, so all the teams interested in him backed away as he wouldn’t have passed any medical tests due to his injury. The 20-year-old Uruguayan will try to gain ten Hag’s trust, but that is going to be difficult.

Today, Rich Fay, who is close to Manchester United informed that the Dutch manager has agreed to send Hannibal Mejbri out on loan in the next couple of weeks aiming to the young player’s development. The Red Devils have had contact with three Championship teams that have made provisional offers to sign him on loan.

According to Fay, both club and player agree that a loan move would make sense at this moment and will benefit his career and continue to develop in a less competitive team. The youngster also wants the move so he can play more matches aiming to be selected by his Tunisia manager for the FIFA World Cup in November.

Hannibal’s short career

The 19-year-old is considered one of the best and most promising footballers coming from the Manchester United academy ahead of the near future. Hannibal arrived at United in 2017 after the club paid around £5m and has been named Man Utd’s U-21 player of the season when he was only 17 years old. He made his first appearance with the Senior team in May of last year against Wolves and has already played for his country.
