As it was reported yesterday, Sevilla is very interested in signing Alex Telles from Manchester United. Today, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that both teams have reached an agreement for a season-loan deal of the Brazilian. The loan will not include a buy option clause. He added that the contracts are already being prepared for them to be signed this week. As well as the official announcement.

This almost confirms that Alex Telles will not be part of the team for the team for the first game of the season this Sunday at Old Trafford against Brighton & Hove Albion. He is expected to travel to Spain in order to sign his contract and have his medical tests so he can be announced and train with his new teammates.

As of right now, Manchester United have Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams as the only left-back options for Erik Ten Hag. Even though Williams is just coming back from a season-long loan with Norwich City, where he had plenty of game time, he hasn’t convinced his new coach and may be on his way out again.

It appears that Luke Shaw will be United’s first choice left-back one more year, in spite of not being in his best form last year. However, the English player, shouldn’t take his spot for granted, because Diogo Dalot can play on the left too. Another player that can be a regular starter is Lisandro Martínez, being left-footed he can either play as a center-back or as a left-back, as he did many times at Ajax.

Alex Telles is on his way out

Although is not a permanent move, Alex Telles will leave Manchester United this season so he can play more minutes and be eligible for Brazil’s coach, Tite, for the upcoming World Cup in November. The 29-year-old will come back to Old Trafford next summer and try to win a spot on the team.
