As the days go by, the situation between Frenkie De Jong and FC Barcelona is still very unclear. One day he is about to leave, but the next day he isn't, so Manchester United will not wait anymore. According to Melissa Reddy, senior reporter for Sky Sports, Renato Sanches could be an alternative for Frenkie De Jong this summer.

Renato Sanches will not continue at LOSC Lille next season and he has been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Even though, Italian media was certain about a personal agreement reached months ago between club and player, nothing has materialized. PSG was interested in signing Renato, but they have to get rid of other midfielders in their squad to be able to buy him.

The season is about to start, so the Portuguese midfielder would listen to new offers, so a comeback to the Premier League, where he played with Swansea City, would sound like a good idea while being coached by one of the best managers in world football in Erik Ten Hag. The Dutchman has made it clear to the United board that he needs a defensive midfielder.

The former Benfica and Bayern Munich player wouldn't be too expensive, as he was rumored to be transferred to Milan for just 10 million euros plus add-ons. At only 24-years of age, Sanches is already an European champion with Portugal at the 2016 EUROS. He also has experience in the UEFA Champions League and Premier League.

The alternative for De Jong

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville tweeted that during Barça's preseason in Miami, he was told by close sources that De Jong would preferred staying at Barcelona or move to Chelsea in London, as he wants to play next season's Champions League so he can arrive in good shape to the FIFA World Cup this winter.
