While Alex Telles is leaving to Spain’s side Sevilla FC in a season loan, Luke Shaw is really close to sign a new deal with Manchester United, as the club value him as the starting left-back for next season. Only time will tell if he stays untouchable after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia, who is only 22 years old and is of the liking of Erik Ten Hag.

This information was exposed by the Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who informed that the negotiations with the player have been taking place in the last couple of months. As of right now, Shaw’s contract with United expires on the summer of 2023 and the club does not want to risk the chance of losing him by free.

At this moment nothing is certain, but the club’s board seems confident that the player will extend his contract until 2024 in the next couple of months to help them manage the situation in the short-term. The deal must-likely will include an option to add another year of contract if both parties are happy.

On the other hand, Brandon Williams is most likely to be loaned out for a second consecutive year as he has been relegated to the third choice left-back. Brighton & Hove Albion showed interest at the end of July as a potential replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is going to Chelsea; but there wasn’t a concrete offer on the table.

You may love him or hate him, but he deserves this renewal

Yes, Luke Shaw has not been what every Manchester United fan expected when they signed him from Southampton as a teenager back in 2014. The injuries have held him back to fulfilling his potential, however, he has always given everything for the club and is one of the best left-backs in the league and will probably go to the World Cup this winter.
