After last night’s victory, in which Lisandro Martínez and Raphael Varane had a big part in as the centre-back pairing, the former Real Madrid defender had an interview with Simon Peach from PA Media, where he talked about his post-match initial thoughts, but also he was asked about the signing of Casemiro, who he knew very well from their time at the Spanish capital.

The World Cup winner with France in 2018 believes Casemiro couldn’t arrive at a better time to Manchester United and is sure the Brazilian has already fallen in love with the fans: “I think it was a perfect night for him to meet Old Trafford because the atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and he brings a victory so it’s nice”.

Varane describes his former teammate as a warrior and is very confident that his football abilities are exactly what they needed in the middle of the pitch: “Very excited. I know perfectly his quality. He can bring this balance on the team and his mentality. He is a warrior, so I think he will really enjoy English football”, he said to Simon Peach.

The four-time Champions League winner claims he went through the same feeling as Casemiro: “I know exactly what he feels and why he is coming here after what he lived in Madrid. He needs a new challenge, it’s a similar process that I had. I’m speaking with him a lot but he didn’t need me to make his choice”.

The trio reunited

Four days ago, when the signing was first announced, Raphael Varane welcomed him with a little message on his Instagram account with a picture of them alongside Cristiano Ronaldo: “Many battles fought together with my warrior Case! Welcome to Manchester, amigo”. Hopefully all three of them can help United get back on top where it belongs.
