Manchester United and Erik ten Hag have targeted both Antony and Cody Gakpo as their top priorities this summer to reinforce the team’s attack. It has been reported that both players have already told the English club their intention of signing with them. However, negotiations are currently ongoing between Ajax and United for Antony.

While the Red Devils are trying to sign Antony from Ajax, PSV Eindhoven’s manager and former Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy held a press conference ahead of their UEFA Champions League play-off qualifier, where he obviously was questioned about Cody Gakpo’s future among the interest of the 20-time champions of England.

The 46-year-old ex-footballer reiterated his intention of keeping him. He also said that he is impressed by the maturity of his player handling all the media attention: “There have been rumors for a long time, it's clear we would love to keep Gakpo here at PSV. he never changed his attitude in training after the rumors, that’s so good for a young player”.

It is clear that the 23-year-old winger is one of the best players on Rud van Nistelrooy’s team and obviously he doesn’t want to lose him, especially if they end up qualifying for the Champions League group stages. If that happens then it would be very difficult for Man United to sign him. PSV will face Rangers tomorrow for a place in the group stages after they drew 2-2 on the first leg.

For all time's sake

The legendary Dutch striker played five years at Old Trafford where he became one of the best players in the world before leaving for Real Madrid. Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in 219 games as Manchester United’s number 9. As Cody Gakpo’s manager, he surely has taught him a few things in front of goal, and he could also recommend him to sign with his former club
