After Manchester United defeated Liverpool at Old Trafford, Christian Eriksen talked to MUTV about his first impressions of the match. The former Tottenham and Brentford player praised his teammates for that performance and also believes that last week’s 4-0 defeat against the Bees helped them to learn from their mistakes.

Eriksen remembered Erik ten Hag’s words coming out of the Brentford defeat where he said that his players first needed to understand the basics, which are the attitude displayed on the field: “This has been about coming together and getting back to the basics. We needed to show that we were better doing the basics and I think we did that today”.

The 30-year-old midfielder looked to be talking about Lisandro Martínez's performance at the back, who was probably Man Of The Match last night: “Of course, with the South American and a bit of Spanish style there was a lot of passion towards the defensive side, but also the offensive side, we tried to do whatever we could”.

The Danish footballer praised his manager’s choice of tactics today because it helped them get the result they wanted. “We have some very quick players and how we played today, and how Liverpool played, suited us as well. It’s great to play with players who want to play football and run”. He likes playing with fast players so he can give them long passes behind the defender like today.

The attitude was different

As Christian Eriksen said for MUTV, last night’s performance from Manchester United players was incredible. They looked like a completely different team in comparison with the first two games of the season that ended up in defeats. Erik ten Hag made the players learn from past mistakes and made them realize that their past performances are unacceptable with the United jersey.
