Erik ten Hag considers that his current right-back options are not the best that he could have wished for. For that reason, he has been searching for options who can arrive on the right-hand side of the defense and compete with Diogo Dalot for a place in the starting lineup every week at the training ground.
While Dalot has earned his place in the squad, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been chosen by the manager to leave the club since he doesn’t have the characteristics that he likes in his full-backs so he doesn’t feature in his plans. According to talkSPORT, Crystal Palace is considering signing back the young Englishman but wouldn’t pay more than £10 million.

For this reason, Jason Burt from The Daily Telegraph, reported that Manchester United is considering making a £12 million offer to Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Thomas Meunier. The 30-year-old right-back is of the liking of ten Hag because he is a physical player who is good with the ball on his feet and could make good crosses to the area.
However, the Red Devils are not the only club interested in him. It has been reported from Spain that FC Barcelona are also looking for a right-back and Meunier is one of their favorite options at the moment. It is also yet to be seen if Dortmund is willing to sell him this summer because he has played in both of their first two games of the Bundesliga this season.
Thomas Meunier is a player with years of experience at clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund where he has won plenty of titles. He wouldn’t be that expensive and will provide competition for Diogo Dalot, who really needs it in order to demonstrate his potential. The Belgian is still a regular for his national team and could be a great addition to the squad.
