The German software provider ‘TeamViewer’ has confirmed that they will not extend their Manchester United sponsorship when their contract expires in 2026. This decision comes as a surprise to everyone at the club, because only a year has passed since ‘TeamViewer’ signed a £47m per-year shirt sponsorship last summer.
‘TeamViewer’ made the following statement to announce their decision: “The company has decided to review its long-term marketing strategy in light of the current macro-economic environment”. However, they will still appear in Manchester United jerseys until their contract runs out.
Erik ten Hag isn’t as happy as he would have expected to be for this reason
This forward is set to miss Manchester United’s first game of the season
‘Daily Mail’ journalist, Chris Wheeler, reported that the German company’s share price has lost four-fifths of its value ever since they have appeared in the ‘Red Devils’ kit. ‘TeamViewer’ has blamed the cost of the deal as the main reason for the company’s devaluation. ‘AS Fútbol’ confirmed Wheeler’s report saying that they have lost up to 80% of their value.
After Chevrolet’s sponsorship with Manchester United ended, the club found thought they had found in ‘TeamViewer’ the perfect company to associate with. However, United’s board must look for another deal that helps the club economically.
