Erik ten Hag and the club are still looking for new players that could arrive this summer that would help the team turn around the worrying situation that they are currently in. Even though the priority at the moment is the attacking position, they have not forgotten about the lack of quality players in the midfield area.

Manchester United is really close to signing Adrien Rabiot and it is expected that he will be announced by the club before the Liverpool game next Monday. However, it was reported that this transfer would not get in the way of United looking for another footballer in that position. The priority was Frenkie De Jong, but apparently, the club has moved on.

Today it was reported by José Félix Díaz from Spain’s ‘Diario MARCA’, that Manchester United have just added Casemiro to their short-list as he is one of the best players in the world in his position. Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff believe he could be a possible defensive midfielder reinforcement that would elevate the quality of the team in the short term.

Félix Díaz also reported that some Man United emissaries are in Madrid with different routes open. However, he clarifies that Real Madrid has not received any bid for the Brazilian at the moment. It also seems very unlikely that the current UEFA Champions League winners would let him go after he had a great last season.

It could still happen

Casemiro has been a crucial part of Real Madrid’s recent success in the Champions League as he has been a regular starter in all the five times they have won the tournament in the last decade. Despite all this, the Merengues bought Aurélien Tchouaméni for 80 million this summer, which has upset the 30-year-old Brazil centre-midfielder.
