One of Erik ten Hag’s transfer priorities ever since he was appointed as Manchester United manager back in April has been his former player Antony. The new coach likes players who have played in the Eredivisie, but he likes, even more, the footballers he has coached because they already know his philosophy.

We have seen this pattern after the only three transfers that have arrived at Old Trafford are Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martínez. It has also been noticeable throughout the whole Frenkie De Jong saga with the Dutch manager refusing to move on from De Jong even after the player had refused to sign.

Now it looks very unlikely that Ajax’s Antony will make a move this summer. Mike Verweij from ‘De Telegraaf’ reported that the Brazilian is no longer an option for Manchester United. He also believes that the player himself would think twice before joining the English giants because of how much fun he is having in Amsterdam.

The 22-year-old forward had an amazing last season under Erk ten Hag, scoring 12 goals and handing out 10 assists in 33 games played. This not only attracted the interest of big clubs across Europe but made him get called up to Brazil’s national team, where he is now a regular and will most likely play in the FIFA World Cup this year.

The player is happy at Ajax

Antony is having an impressive start to the season in the Eredivisie. After three matches he scored two goals and made two assists and looks very confident with the ball on his feet. Following his last game against Groningen, he was asked about the possibility to sign with Manchester United and reunite with Erik ten Hag, but he said that he is loving life in Amsterdam and is only focused on his team.
