After closing the signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid, Manchester United is looking for attacking players as Erik ten Hag feels they need better footballers in the offensive department. The club has been linked with a lot of players these past couple of weeks like Antony, Cody Gakpo, and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, among others.

Yesterday it was reported by the Italian journalist Di Marzio, that the Red Devils contacted Napoli for Hirving Lozano. The Mexican is of the liking of Erik ten Hag since his Eredivisie days at PSV where he impressed the former Ajax manager who is now interested in signing him from Napoles. However, this operation seems complicated.

Manchester United will give this player a second chance next season

“Chucky” is having a great start to the season. He made an assist in his team’s first match of the Serie A campaign which they ended up winning 5-2 against Hellas Verona. Lozano will be a crucial part of his manager Luciano Spalletti’s system this year after both Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens left the club this summer.

Napoli bought Lozano back in 2019 for €45 million, which made him one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history. Unfortunately, he hasn’t fulfilled his potential with the Italian side and has spent a lot of time sitting on the bench. However, this season is shaping up to be his best one yet since Spalletti has told him that he will gain more prominence in the squad.

Other alternatives

Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is not an easy man to negotiate with. He has said in the past that he would not accept less than what they paid for the 27-year-old winger, which was €45 million. For this reason, Erik ten Hag and Manchester United could move on to other players that are cheaper or waste all their efforts and money in signing Antony from Ajax.
