Yesterday it was reported by Ben Jacobs from CBS Sports Golazo, that Borussia Dortmund were having internal talks discussing the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer after his agent Jorge Mendes offered him to them. The agent was reportedly encouraging them to make an offer for his player in the next couple of days.

Dortmund is one of the few clubs that weren’t linked with Cristiano in this transfer window. The Portuguese man and his agent spent all summer trying to find a new club for him after Manchester United and he failed to qualify for this season’s UEFA Champions League. Nevertheless, they never received any offer from a club.

The German club making a move for Ronaldo would make sense after their main striker Erling Haaland left for Manchester City. They signed Sébastien Haller from Ajax, but sadly he is now dealing with a testicular tumor and will be out of action for an indefinite time. At the moment they don’t have a star forward upfront that can guarantee them all the goals that Haaland scored last season.

After all the social media buzz that was provoked by this report, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Sky Sports Germany that there is nothing between them and the Portugal striker: “I love this player, it’s certainly a charming idea to see Cristiano play at Signal Iduna Park. But there is no contact at all between the parties involved”.

Cristiano Ronaldo could still leave

Even though the 37-year-old striker has been training with the team for the past three weeks and has already played the first two matches of the season, he still wants to leave before the transfer window closes. It was reported by David Ornstein from The Athletic, that Manchester United would let him go if they receive a good bid.
