Two days ago it was reported that Manchester United had added Casemiro to their potential transfer shortlist for the midfield since Erik ten Hag realized his squad needed a world-class defensive midfielder after the team’s terrible start of the season which currently has the club sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The Red Devils contacted Casemiro’s agent following the humiliating 4-0 defeat Brentford last Saturday as they figured the squad’s situation is way worse than expected. The Dutch manager and the club were very patient all summer waiting for Frenkie De Jong to change his mind and sign with them, but he never did and now they have finally moved on.

Even though the Brazilian midfielder wasn’t ten Hag’s first choice, he is arguably the best player in the world in his position. He has won it all with Real Madrid this last decade and for this reason, it was reported that their club’s president Florentino Pérez told him that he has earned the right to make the decision by himself.

Obviously, Madrid doesn’t want to lose him as he is still a crucial piece of their manager’s Carlo Ancelotti system, but if the English giants pay enough money, then they wouldn’t get in the way of the transfer happening as they want to show the 30-year-old centre-midfielder that they respect him and his decision after all these years.

Just a matter of time

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that Manchester United are currently working really hard trying to get the deal approved in the next few hours. Casemiro’s medical tests are expected to happen within 48 hours once Real Madrid accepts the offer of €60 million plus €10 m in add-ons. United are desperate to play him against Liverpool on Monday.
