Despite some reports from the club’s closest sources that were suggesting that Manchester United won’t be signing anyone else after Antony and Martin Dúbravka, it looks like there is one more player that the Red Devils will try to sign before the transfer window closes at 12:00 of this Thursday’s morning.
According to one of the closest sources from FC Barcelona Gerard Romero, Manchester United remain very interested in signing Sergiño Dest and could even make a new proposal for him soon. There were some reports from Barcelona’s news portal Sport suggesting that Barca and United were considering making a swap deal including Dest and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Both clubs are desperate to sell these players before they could sign any new right-back, so this deal would have made sense. However, it looks like Barcelona weren’t interested enough in Wan-Bissaka, so the swap deal didn’t go through. Despite this, the English giants will reportedly still try to sign the 21-year-old United States full-back.
But before making any move for the player, the Red Devils will most likely have to sell the English right-back in the upcoming days. Crystal Palace and West Ham United are the only clubs that have approached the Old Trafford side to ask for Wan-Bissaka, but both clubs have offered no more than £15 million for him.
If Sergiño Dest ends up arriving at Manchester United, then Erik ten Hag would have four of his former Ajax players at his disposal in the current squad. The Dutch manager signed Lisandro Martinez and Antony this summer, and he reunited with Donny van de Beek, who signed with United back in 2020. Dest and van de Beek played an important part in that Ajax team that reached the semifinals of the Champions League in 2019.
