The first match of the season against Brighton, in which Manchester United lost, has shown that the team still needs reinforcement in some key areas of the pitch. One being the striker position after Anthony Martial picked up an injury on Thursday. Today Erik ten Hag started the game with no centre-forward as he benched Cristiano Ronaldo for not being match fit.

For this reason, the club is now looking for a striker who is willing to accept a secondary role in the team, as Cristiano will obviously the main man upfront if he ends up staying. Martial is expected to come back from in the next couple of weeks after medical tests indicated it wasn’t that serious of an injury.

Numerous sources have reported that the ‘Red Devils’ have made an offer of €8million to Italian side Bologna for Marko Arnautović. However, this initial bid has been rejected. Italian media has also added that the player asked his club to leave as he knew the interest from United and is extremely keen to join.

A familiar face for the Premier League

The Austrian centre-forward played for Stoke City and West Ham during his time at the Premier League before moving to China and Italy. At 33 years of age, he would accept to be a squad player for Manchester United as he already knows Erik ten Hag and his assistant Steve McClaren by their time together at Twente.
