Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane does not seem too impressed with Erik ten Hag’s work just yet. Keane spoke to Sky minutes before the kickoff of the Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion match at Old Trafford, where he also gave his opinion on the Cristiano Ronaldo situation at the club.

About the Portuguese not starting: “They have not got enough options upfront, which might change over the next few weeks. But from a football point of view, you have to hold on to Ronaldo. You cannot just let him go without the back-up behind it. Martial is not the answer. He had a decent pre-season? Big deal”.

When asked about all the good pre-season impact Erik ten Hag has made at the club since his arrival, he did not seem to be amused, as he said: “There is a lot of PR from Manchester United. They are training properly? Praise the lord! That is what you are supposed to do!”.

Cristiano Ronaldo is benched for the first game of the season

As things stand, the Portuguese striker will stay at Manchester United for another season after not finding another club interested in signing him. He seems to have accepted it and has been training really well during this week and some even thought he could start against Brighton. It is very likely he makes the line-up next week.
