Today’s afternoon, new manager, Erik ten Hag held a press conference in preparation of Manchester United’s opening game of the Premier League season this Sunday at Old Trafford against Brighton & Hove Albion, who are looking to repeat their 4-0 victory over United last season.

The manager said that he cannot wait for his first game in charge: “It is very exciting, as every season. But when you arrive with a new team, it is tough. But we are really looking forward to Sunday”. Even though he is focused for the match, he confirmed the club is still searching for signings during the last weeks of the transfer window.

The Dutchman emphasized that his team still needs more players to upgrade the quality: “We need more competition in the squad, but also we are going into a long season with a lot of games. We need a lot of good players as nobody can play all of the games”. In addition, he said that they won’t bring whoever is available in case their main targets don’t end up materializing: “If it's not the right player, no. We need the right players”.

It hasn’t been the best transfer window for the club

With only the signings of Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martínez and Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United does not seem to be a much stronger side in comparison of last season’s squad. With the arrival of ten Hag, fans were expecting more new players by now.
