Everybody knows by this point that Erik ten Hag is desperate to sign Antony from Ajax. However, the Dutch club has been very reluctant about letting the young Brazilian attacker go to Manchester United as he is considered a crucial part of the team by the new manager Alfred Schreuder, who replaced ten Hag this summer.

Last week, the current Eredivisie champions turned down an €80 million bid made by Manchester United for the 22-year-old winger. This caused the player to refuse to take part in the club’s training sessions the following two days. For that reason, his manager decided to leave him out of their match against Sparta Rotterdam this past weekend as he wasn’t 100% focused on Ajax.

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter that the English giants have already reached an agreement on personal terms with Antony. Now both the player and Ajax are waiting for a new increased offer that gets close to the €100m that the Dutch club values him in. In the meantime, the former Sao Paulo player has been dropping hints to the Red Devils.

During the match between Manchester United and Liverpool on Monday, Antony’s agent uploaded an Instagram story of him watching the match on TV. Minutes later, Antony uploaded a selfie of him and his agent together sitting on a sofa. Yesterday, the Brazilian commented: “Daleee” with a heart and a clapping emoji on his former teammate’s Lisandro Martínez Instagram post.

A new proposal is coming

It was reported earlier today by Alex Crook from TalkSPORT, that Manchester United could make a new bid for Antony today and not throughout the week as other media outlets were saying. Erik ten Hag wants the player now so he could start training with his new teammates and get ready for this Saturday’s match against Southampton.
