Two days ago, the German news portal BILD revealed that Manchester United had made a bid to Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Kevin Trapp. It was also reported by other German media outlets like Kicker and SPORT1 that the English giants were offering the goalkeeper a four-year contract and €10-11 million a year as his wages.

Last night during the Sport BILD awards ceremony, Kevin Trapp was questioned about his future after the interest of Manchester United. He said that he takes it as a compliment: “As I said during my first spell at Frankfurt, it is always nice when rumors like this come out. It is a nice acknowledgment, but I can’t say anything about it”.

His current manager at Frankfurt Oliver Glasner also was asked about his player and he didn’t rule out the possibility of him being sold: “From a sporting point of view, I would, of course, like to keep such a great goalkeeper and person. He is a great role model and always one of the first to arrive at training. But I’m not the final decision maker”.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper had an impressive campaign last season as he was a crucial part of his team winning the UEFA Europa League and is living one of the best moments in his career at Eintracht Frankfurt. However, he would be open to making a move to Old Trafford and competing with David De Gea.

Manchester United need a goalkeeper

One of Erik ten Hag’s priorities before the transfer window shuts down in about two weeks' time, is to bring a backup goalkeeper who can challenge the 31-year-old Spanish keeper for a place in the starting XI each week. Kevin Trapp is one of the club’s favorite options since De Gea’s shaky start of the season.
