Antony talks about reuniting with some friends at Manchester United

The 22-year-old player will see some familiar faces at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s newest signing Antony was finally unveiled as a Red Devil’s player today. After signing his contract until 2027 with an option to extend it to 2028, he was interviewed by the club’s media where he was asked about his first impressions so far, but mainly he was asked about the friends he already has at the club.

He started talking about his teammates at Brazil's national team: “Firstly, I’m really happy to meet the Brazilians here. I gave Fred a hug this morning and I was in constant contact with Casemiro over the phone. I’m really happy to be reunited with them again from the national team, now we’re here together. Fred’s talked to me about the club, I hope to make history with them”, he told the club media.

When asked specifically about Casemiro, since both of them came out of the same club’s academy: “I’m really happy that we’ve both come from the same place, the Sao Paulo youth set-up, and, today, we’re playing together at this great club. As we have said in messages to each other, we hope to write our names in the club’s history”.

Antony will also reunite with the Argentinian Lisandro Martinez: “We spent two years together at Ajax. We developed a really strong friendship. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and his family, who I got to know as well. Now we are back together and we’ve spoken about achieving great things together here”. He also said that he has the same personality as him, so United fans could expect the same commitment and sacrifice that have made Lisandro a fan favorite.

Reunited at United

Last, but not least, Antony will also reunite with Erik ten Hag, who coached him for two years at Ajax. the 22-year-old winger told the club media that he’s got great respect and affection for the Dutch manager because of how he treated him when he first arrived at the Amsterdam club. He is also grateful for the manager’s faith in him to bring him to Manchester United.
