Antony has been finally unveiled as Manchester United's newest signing in today’s morning. The 22-year-old winger was signed from Ajax for an Eredivisie record fee of €95 million fixed with €5m on add-ons, which made him the most expensive sell in the Dutch league’s history. He signed his new contract until June 2027, with the option of a further year before talking to the club’s media about his first impressions.

Antony is delighted to sign with one of the best clubs in the world, but still remembers the people that helped him get here: “This is an incredible moment in my career to be joining one of the most iconic clubs in the world. I’m thankful to everyone who has believed in me, especially my family, and all my coaches and teammates, because I could not have gotten here without them”.

When asked about reuniting with his former manager at Ajax, he said that he is one of the main reasons he came here: “Playing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax was perfect for me and my development. His style of football and coaching brings out the best in me, and I am excited by what he has told me about his plans and ambitions in Manchester”.

Antony and Erik ten Hag worked together with the Eredivisie giants, where they really created a special bond on and off the pitch. The Brazilian player also has a great relationship with Manchester United’s new defender Lisandro Martinez, who also played with them at Ajax and was signed earlier this summer.

One last goodbye

Antony couldn’t help but send one last message to his former club, which brought him to European football: “My time at Ajax was fantastic and I will always be grateful for the trust they put in me, but now I’m ready for the next challenge, and I can’t wait to join my new teammates and play my part in bringing success to Manchester United”.
