Manchester United have finally announced that the signing of Antony Matheus dos Santos from Ajax has been completed. Despite announcing that they had reached an agreement with the Dutch club for a fee of €95 million plus €5 m in add-ons, the player hadn’t signed his contract until today which he signed until 2027 with an option to extend it one more year.

Unfortunately, he will not be at his new manager’s disposal for tonight’s fixture away at Leicester City, but he will be definitely watching closely. The 22-year-old winger hasn’t completed a full training session alongside his team since two weeks ago, right before he went on strike and refused to train with Ajax for them to let him go to Old Trafford.

That decision definitely helped his chances because the Eredivisie champions weren’t willing to sell him at any price. But after he gave out an interview with the Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, where he exposed his club for not allowing him to be sold for an Eredivise record fee. The player arrived two days ago at Carrington and passed his medical tests.

However, since he hasn’t trained or played a match in two weeks makes him not match-fit for tonight. He hasn’t even trained with the rest of his new teammates, so his debut will most likely be on Sunday when Manchester United face the Premier League leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford. He might start the game sitting on the bench.

End of the saga

Erik ten Hag has finally gotten the attacking player he always wanted ever since he was appointed as Manchester United manager back in April. He wanted his former Ajax player because he felt that he was exactly what the team needed. A left-footed right-winger who could dribble past people and cut inside and shoot with his left foot.
