It is starting to shape up like a nice that for Manchester United. First, Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Casemiro wants to leave and that both clubs are still negotiating; and now Anthony Martial has been spotted today at Carrington’s training facilities alongside the rest of his teammates.

Two weeks ago, just three days before Manchester United’s opening match of their Premier League campaign against Brighton, Martial suffered a hamstring injury during training. This made Erik ten Hag change his plans as the Frenchman was shaping up to start ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo after his great pre-season under the new manager.

The former Ajax coach had to change his system because, without the 26-year-old striker, he didn’t have another centre-forward available besides Ronaldo, who was just returning to training after missing the entire pre-season tour for “personal reasons”. For that reason, Christian Eriksen started up front as a ‘false 9’ and the team performed poorly in comparison with the friendly games.

Now just three days before the Liverpool game, which is arguably the biggest match of the season because of the rivalry between the clubs, Anthony Martial could be available for ten Hag. Today it has been reported by The Sun, that Martial will be starting against Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo. The manager will inform in a few hours if he is available or not when he speaks in a press conference.

A much-expected return

Erik ten Hag was really impressed with the former AS Monaco forward during pre-season. Martial spent the last six months on loan at Sevilla and came back better than ever as he adapted quickly to his new manager’s system and philosophy. He might start against Liverpool after the team has failed to score in the first two games of the campaign.
