One of the players that could be on his way out of Manchester United on this final day of the transfer window is Amad Diallo. But it would only be on a season-long loan deal since Erik ten Hag and the club consider him as one of the most promising prospects in the squad that could become a world-class player in the future.

According to close sources of Manchester United like Jonathan Shrager and Laurie Whitwell from The Athletic, Sunderland is currently the most likely destination for the 20-year-old forward. Whitwell reported that United see the new Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray’s style of football as the best suited for the player’s abilities.

The young Ivory Coast winger was signed by the Red Devils from Atalanta back in 2021 for an impressive €21 million fixed fee that could reach the €40m mark with add-ons in the future. The most surprising thing was that the English giants paid that much money for someone who had only played five games with Atalanta’s senior team.

Despite that, Amad Diallo was considered the next big thing coming through the Italian’s club Academy. However, Man United might have jumped in too soon with all that money. He still needed to continue developing in an environment with less pressure like Atalanta, a club known for their great work with young players.

More experience

Last season, Diallo wasn’t playing too much first-team football, so by January, the club decided to let him go on a six-month loan deal to the Scotland giants Rangers. Unfortunately, he didn’t play that much with them in the Scottish Premiership, nor in the UEFA Europa League, where his team reached the final.
