Manchester United started their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot over a week ago now. After reaching an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of the footballer for a fee of around €20 million, the club has been negotiating personal terms with the player and his mother/agent, but to this day they still haven’t closed the signing.

Manchester United would have expected to have the midfielder at Erik ten Hag’s disposal at this point, but they have failed to close the deal. Last week, the club’s football director John Murtough, flew to Turin where he held a meeting with Rabiot and his mother expecting to reach an agreement but left empty-handed.

Today it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the deal is now stalling after a week of negotiations between the Red Devils and the player’s camp. The Italian journalist claims that the main problem is the Frenchman’s salary request, which is considered excessive by the English club. Let’s remember that he has one of the highest wages in Serie A.

Another Italian reporter Di Marzio, has also said that in addition to the high demands of the 27-year-old centre-midfielder, another thing that is slowing down the negotiations is that the player is still unconvinced of the project at Old Trafford since they are not participating in this season's UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United and Juventus waiting

Both clubs are desperate for the deal to be completed. Juve wants the player to leave so they can sign Leandro Paredes from Paris Saint-Germain, while Erik ten Hag urges that he needs a midfielder as soon as possible after not being convinced by Scott McTominay and Fred’s performances in the first two games of the campaign.
