Anthony Martial, who is now out with a hamstring injury, was loaned out last season to Sevilla FC, where he only scored one goal in 12 games. However, the 26-year-old forward came back this summer and had an impressive pre-season under Erik ten Hag. Unfortunately, just when he was shaping up to start against Brighton in the first match of the season, he got injured.
A lot of fans still believe the Frenchman still can fulfill his potential, but not the Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who said to talkSPORT that he is not good enough: “How many opportunities is that young man going to get to be a Manchester United player? He’s proven already to me he’s not for Man Utd. He can’t deal with the pressure of playing for them”.

Souness also compared him with Paul Pogba and had very harsh words for both of them: “I see both of them and I see players in them and qualities that few players possess. But it’s on their terms and they pick and choose when they use it. These players are not up for the fight. I don’t think you can rely on Martial anymore, not that you ever could”.
Although the Scottish ex-footballer might be right about the fact that he has had a lot of opportunities to show his quality and failed time and time again, this season is looking to be different. He adapted very well to ten Hag’s system and was set to start against Brighton. Once he returns from his injury maybe he finally shuts his haters up.
