Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney was appointed by MLS team, DC United, as their new manager in the hope that he takes them out of last place of the table. Let’s not forget that this is only Rooney’s second opportunity as a coach. First he was a player-manager at Derby County, he then retired and became their full-time coach.

‘Wazza’ miraculously saved Derby from relegation, as they were in last place of the Championship when he took full charge of the team. Unfortunately, his team got relegated to League One on his second season. Now he faces a similar challenge in a league that he already knows with his former team, where he played from 2018 to 2020.

Yesterday, ‘TalkSPORT’ informed that Rooney wants to sign Phil Jones this summer. The coach already knows him from his time at the club. The negotiations should not be complicated because Jones is one of the players transfer listed as he does not count for Erik Ten Hag.  The price Manchester United would ask for is as little as £5M. Now, according to ‘Mail Sport’, the player is waiting for other proposals to come before accepting the offer.

Phil Jones arrived to Old Trafford back in 2011 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge. The center-back’s first years at the club were very promising as him and Chris Smalling were called to become the new defensive duo of United after Nemanja Vidić and Rio Ferdinand’s retirement. Sadly, both players level had a sudden drop over the years. Smalling left the club in 2019 to join Roma, and Jones is rumored to leave.

Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United icon

Sir Alex Ferguson brought in Wayne Rooney from Everton when he was only a teenager. At only 18 years of age, he started his career with the club with a bang. Scoring a Hat-Trick on his debut in the Champions League against Fenerbahce, he was only destined for greatness. Over the years, the forward became captain of the team and is now the top goalscorer of Manchester United’s history with 253 goals.
