Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in Kevin Trapp after Eintracht Frankfurt asked for €25 million to let go of their first-choice goalkeeper, who is also one of the team’s captains, as per James Ducker from The Daily Telegraph. The English giants have currently put the operation on hold while they make a decision.

It was just last night during the Sport BILD award ceremony in Germany that the 32-year-old keeper was asked about the Red Devils' interest in him, to which he sounded very flattered: “As I said during my first spell at Frankfurt, it is always nice when rumors like these come out. It is a nice acknowledgment, but I can’t say anything about it”.

His current manager at Eintracht Frankfurt Oliver Glasner also said that he would love to keep Kevin Trapp since he is very important to him, both on the field and outside of it. He admitted he is a great influence on the rest of his teammates. However, he admitted that the final decision wasn't up to him, but to the player and club board.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly very keen on signing a new goalkeeper in the next couple of weeks who can represent actual competition for David De Gea down the sticks. Christian Falk from Sport BILD claims that the Dutch manager’s priority is Kevin Trapp. However, after the asking price of €25m, he could look for other options.

The alternatives

Some other goalkeepers that have been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks are Yann Sommer and Diogo Costa. The former Ajax manager could try to sign Sommer since he has a lot of experience and could really challenge De Gea in goal. Diogo Costa would be a long-term alternative because Porto doesn’t want to sell him this summer.
