The former Manchester United striker, who is nowadays PSV Eindhoven’s manager talked yesterday about his player Cody Gakpo and the Red Devils’ interest in signing him. Several sources close to the club have reported that Erik ten Hag wants Gakpo to play for him at Old Trafford as he is a very skilled young player.

When Ruud van Nistelrooy was asked about Manchester United's approach for his player, he said that Cody Gakpo is 100 percent only focused on PSV’s next matches and doesn’t care about what media says: “He keeps as far away as possible from what which causes noise in order to deliver a top performance”.

Although Gakpo is still really young, van Nistelrooy thinks he is very mature and professional: “Cody is 23 years old and that is not always possible at that age, but for me, he is someone who is always busy with his profession. They really know him. As a trainer, I try to help him with everything he needs but he has to do it himself in the end”.

The legendary striker closed the topic by saying he and his club will talk about Gakpo’s future when the Red Devils make a bid, as no offer has been made yet: “We will only talk about it when there is something concrete. We are working on his development as a player and how he can contribute to PSV”.

A little help from Ruud

The Dutch ex-footballer played for Manchester United from 2001 until 2006 when he moved to Real Madrid. He lived the best moment of his career when he was playing at Old Trafford and has always shown his admiration for the club. The 46-year-old manager must have been teaching some things to Cody Gakpo and could recommend him to sign for Man United to take a step forward in his career.
