Even though, Manchester United will wait for Frenkie de Jong’s decision as he is labeled as the priority target for Erik ten Hag, the club is already thinking on different alternatives that have a similar qualities as the Dutch midfielder, who is now being approached by Chelsea while his salary situation with Barcelona is still is being dealt with.

The first option is Rúben Neves, who has already been linked with a move to Manchester in past few years. The 25-year-old has become a crucial part of the Wolverhampton Wanderers team as he has evolved into one of the most complete midfielders in England. He is now a regular starter for Portugal and feels that he is ready to take a step forward in his career. However, Wolves ask for £70m to let him go.

Renato Sanches was an alternative for some days as he was looking for a new club this summer. LOSC Lille were only asking for €15m so the price was tentative for ‘The Red Devils’. Unfortunately, the player was only waiting for Paris Saint-Germain as they were trying to sell some players in order to sign him. Finally, they did it and announced the transfer today.

The other two options being talked about are West Ham’s captain Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham. Both center-midfielders are considered as two of the most promising young players in the country. Sadly, their clubs seem to consider them untouchable. Also, they are really happy at their teams and are not looking for a change at the moment, but United have a feeling they could go after them next summer, according to Laurie Whitwell, from ‘The Athletic’.

Even after looking for alternatives, De Jong is the priority

Manchester United really want to please their new manager Erik ten Hag by signing the player he desires the most. The club will keep insisting for Frenkie De Jong until he makes up his mind and decides his future club. Whether he stays at Barcelona or leaves for either Chelsea or United.
