It is not all bad news coming out of Carrington after the news that Anthony Martial picking up a hamstring injury. The reason being Jadon Sancho returning to the training ground with the rest of his teammates after recovering from illness that made him miss the last game of pre-season against Rayo Vallecano.

Jadon Sancho arrived last summer at Old Trafford after the club had been trying to sign him over from Borussia Dortmund for over a year. The German club recognized the player’s potential as they asked for a €150M for him. However, ‘The Red Devils’ managed to lower the fee to 85 million, which was finally accepted as the player pressure Dortmund to let him go.

However, things did not go as expected last season. The young attacker, formed by Manchester City’s academy, struggled to adapt to the Premier League accompanied by the poor performance of the rest of the team. United finished sixth on the table and failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Sancho only managed to score five goals and give three assists.

During this year’s pre-season tour under Erik ten Hag, the winger had great impact on the offensive part of the team. With Sancho on the field, Manchester United scored 10 goals in 225 minutes. On the other hand, the team only managed to score one goal in 180 minutes when the young attacker was out of action.

The 22-year-old is expected to lead Manchester United this season alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, as he probably was the club’s best player under ten Hag in pre-season. He is still very young and has room for improvement, but he seems to be determined to silence his haters.
