A few days ago, it was reported by numerous sources that Manchester United had shown interest in PSV Eindhoven captain, Cody Gakpo as the club was looking for new options to make the attack more dangerous. Last season, apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, the rest of the team’s forwards struggled last season to find the back of the net.

Now it has been confirmed that the ‘Red Devils’ won’t continue to negotiate with Bologna for the signing of Marko Arnautović. The Italian side rejected an initial £8 million bid for the striker and then their sporting director and manager came out and said that they had no intention to sell the player this summer whatsoever as he was described as “priceless”.

Today, Rob Dawson from ESPN claimed that Manchester United have now turned their attention to Cody Gakpo who is of the liking of Erik ten Hag, as he has seen a lot of him during his time at the Eredivisie. The Dutch Player of the Year would only cost around £35 million.

All eyes are on today’s Champions League match

It has been said that PSV would be more open to letting Gakpo go if they do not qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stages. Today, the Dutch giants face AS Monaco in the second leg of the last round of playoffs for a spot in the draw. Last week, they tied 1-1 and it is fair to say that Manchester United will be watching the game closely.
