Yesterday it was reported by the German news portal BILD that Manchester United made a bid to Eintracht Frankfurt for Kevin Trapp in their mission to find a backup option for David De Gea down the sticks, who can also represent competition for the 31-year-old Spanish goalkeeper. However, the fee was not mentioned.

Today, another German source like Kicker, reported that the English giants are offering the goalkeeper a four-year contract. This was complemented by SPORT1 from Germany, reporting that in addition to those four years of the contract, they are offering him a salary of around €10-11m a year and the possibility of starting ahead of David De Gea.

Now Miguel Delaney from Independent is also reporting that the 32-year-old German keeper is seriously considering making a move after the wage increase he will have, and actually believes he has a chance of becoming United’s number one goalkeeper. Independent claims that Frankfurt are asking the Red Devils for €10 million to sell him.

Kevin Trapp is a very similar goalkeeper to De Gea. they both have great reflexes under the sticks, but neither is the best with the ball on their feet. Nevertheless, the former PSG keeper is living a great moment in his career, unlike Man United's  ‘No. 1’. The German just won the Europa League with his team, while being a crucial part of their victory.

A lot of money

Even though David De Gea had a great game last night against Liverpool and seems to have gotten over his mistakes last week, Manchester United still have to bring a second goalkeeper who can actually be an alternative to Dave. However, paying that salary for a backup player is way over the top.
