Yesterday it was reported by Mike Verweij from De Telegraaf, that Anony was no longer an option for Manchester United. The reporter who is close to Ajax believed that the player would think twice before joining the English club because of their current situation that has got them at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Today, Dharmmesh Seth from Sky Sports News reported that sources have told him that the Red Devil’s board hasn’t given up in the Brazilian: “It’s my understanding that this deal could be resurrected. Manchester United have given Antony’s agent an offer to present to Ajax tomorrow, which is likely to be a lot more than what United were prepared to pay earlier in the window”.
Manchester United is going all-in for the signing of Casemiro
The incredible offer Manchester United made for Joao Félix that was rejected
While the 20-times champions of England were trying to sign him since the beginning of the summer, Ajax was very clear about the fact they don’t want to sell him as he is a crucial part of their team and would only accept offers beginning at £70 million. This amount of money seemed like too much for United despite him being one of the priorities for Erik ten Hag.
After a shocking start to the season, Manchester United has changed its strategy toward the transfer market. At the beginning of the window, they were conservative and didn’t want to spend too much money on one player. Now it looks like they are willing to splash any crazy amount of money for their manager’s objectives as we have learned from this news and the Casemiro deal today.
After what was starting to look like a disappointing summer transfer window, if the Red Devils manage to sign Antony and Casemiro this week, that would be a huge power move right before next Monday's fixture against their biggest rivals in Liverpool. If they arrive by Saturday, then there could be a possibility to see them play some minutes against Jurgen Klopp’s team.
