Both Manchester United and Barcelona have been looking for a new right-back this summer transfer window. For that reason, they have targeted some of the same players. They even considered making a swap deal between them. Erik ten Hag wanted Sergiño Dest and offered money, plus either Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but this was turned down by Xavi because he wasn’t interested in any of them.

A few weeks later, some intermediaries offered Thomas Meunier to FC Barcelona and Manchester United. The two clubs were debating internally whether or not to make a move for him, but before they could make a decision, Borussia Dortmund’s football director Sebastian Kehl, came out and said that they have no intention of selling Meunier this summer.

Two days ago, it was reported by Hugo Guillemet from L’Equipe, that both clubs approached Malo Gusto’s entourage in order to persuade him to join them. However, Olympique Lyon has not received an official bid for their young right-back. The French side is also thinking about offering him a new contract to block any potential move.

Today, it was first reported by Brazilian reporter Joaquim Piera, that United had accelerated contacts with Monaco for their Vanderson, who was also in contact with Barca. Spanish newspaper SPORT added that the Red Devils told Monaco that they would improve any offer that Barcelona make for their player.

Who is Vanderson?

The 21-year-old right-back just arrived in Europe this year. He was signed by AS Monaco in January from Brazil’s side Gremio for a fee of €11 million. Vanderson adapted well to the French league and played 22 matches in just six months with his new club. He showed his speed and strength, as well as his offensive abilities scoring 2 goals and giving 3 assists.
