After days of negotiations between clubs, it has been confirmed by Sevilla FC that Alex Telles will play the upcoming season with them. However, it is worth noting that the left-back still belongs to Manchester United, as it is a one-year loan deal. Meaning that he will come back to Old Trafford in the summer of 2023.
Telles arrived last night to Sevilla but did not undergo the medical tests and signed his contract until Thursday morning. It should be noted that ESPN reporter, Rob Dawson, clarify that Spanish club will cover all of the player’s wages for duration of the deal. This way there won’t be an obligation or option to buy.

Erik Ten Hag believes Cristiano Ronaldo fits his system
The Brazilian arrived at Manchester as a big-name signing back in 2020 after conquering Portugal as he was the undisputed starter for FC Porto, where he made 194 appearances, scored 26 goals and handed out 57 assists. He seemed to be the perfect competition for Luke Shaw on the left side of the defense, but sadly things did not go as expected for him.
This loan is the perfect opportunity for Telles to find the best version of himself, away from all the pressure of a big club such as Manchester United. The former Inter player knew he did not have his place secured in the starting eleven, so this adventure gives him the possibility of playing football regularly in the hope of being called out by Brazil for the World Cup this November.
After the signing of Tyrel Malacia this transfer window, Alex’s position as the second choice left-back for the team was in question. Erik ten Hag single handedly chose Malacia from Feyenoord to be the long-term replacement for Luke Shaw. And who knows? Maybe he could even bench the Englishman in his first season.
