Yesterday it was reported by Sami Mokbel from The Daily Mail, that Chelsea have made an inquiry to Manchester United about Harry Maguire’s availability. The reporter claims that it has been proposed inside Old Trafford that the defender moves to Stamford Bridge as part of a deal where they get Christian Pulisic in exchange.
There were reports earlier this week about the Red Devils showing interest in the Blues’ 23-year-old winger Pulisic because he isn’t playing as much as he would like and is open to a move this summer to revive his career. The young North American was reportedly leaning toward United ahead of other Premier League clubs interested.
The new offer that Manchester United will make to Ajax for Antony
Erik ten Hag gives an update before facing Liverpool this Monday
Despite this, Erik ten Hag’s priority for the winger position this transfer window is still Antony. The club made an incredible €80 million bid to Ajax two days ago, but it was rejected. Now, they’re debating internally if they should move to other options like Cody Gakpo, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, or Christian Pulisic.
On the other hand, the London side is seriously considering signing United’s captain as he could fit perfectly in their back three defensive line. Maguire has struggled during his time at Old Trafford playing in a back four, but when he has proven with the England national team, that he is much more comfortable accompanied by two other centre-halfs.
It was also reported by The Daily Mail that after Chelsea might be done trying to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City, they have turned their attention to the most expensive defender in football history. Sami Mokbel claims that Maguire’s place in the starting eleven is under threat after Erik ten Hag prefers Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martínez over him.
