Manchester United has had a shocking start to the Premier League season where they currently sit at the bottom of the table after losing the first two games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. With a combined six goals conceded and zero goals scored in both games, the alarms have gone off at Old Trafford.

Last night on Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Gary Neville said that the club first needs to sort out Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation before dealing with anything else: “As I sit here today, I think there’s a massive decision they have to make on Cristiano Ronaldo and they’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t”.

The Sky Sports pundit believes this decision should’ve been made a long time before: “A few weeks ago before the season started, the best thing to do was facilitate a move out of the club for Cristiano because he’s obviously not happy and the club isn’t happy with him. The problem they have now is if they lose him, there’s nothing left in terms of the goalscoring part of the pitch”.

The former United and England right-back doesn’t think the Red Devils’ squad is good enough to fight for European football: “I genuinely think that if they don’t bring players in or if they bring in poor players and he leaves, I genuinely think they can finish in the bottom half of the table. That’s a bottom half of the table team. That’s a massive statement. Ten Hag is getting to know the level”.

The Cristiano Ronaldo situation

Earlier today it was reported that Manchester United were open to the idea of selling the Portuguese star after Erik ten Hag had enough of his negative attitude towards the rest of his teammates. However, hours later new reports suggested that the club’s owner Joel Glazer is the one refusing a potential Ronaldo move this summer.
