Erik ten Hag held a press conference today ahead of Manchester United’s next Premier League fixture they face Southampton away from home when tomorrow at St Marry’s Stadium. The former Ajax coach wants to keep the momentum going but knows every game is different, so his team should be prepared.

The 52-year-old manager admitted that the team spirit has gone up after the big win against Liverpool on Monday, but the team should build on that: “The spirit was already good, but now it is even better. But it’s only one game, so we have to build further. We have to develop and I think everyone is aware of that”.

The Dutchman said it will be very different from Liverpool’s game: “It’s a different challenge, so I’m really curious: did we learn the lesson from Brentford? Because this will be more or less the same approach. It’s about transition, it’s about running, it’s about battling and fighting, and then we have to make it our game. So it’s a real challenge for us to do that”.

As Erik ten Hag said, Manchester United will face a complicated scenario tomorrow because Southampton will play very similar to Brentford, who defeated the Red Devils 4-0 two weeks ago. Although Liverpool’s game helped the team regain confidence, Jurgen Klopp’s side were the ones who dictated the possession of the ball, while United played well on counterattack.

Different approach?

We’ll see if the Dutch manager makes some adjustments in the starting XI after such a great performance against Liverpool. Casemiro looks to be ready to start, and Anthony Martial won’t be available due to an Achilles injury. Maybe he will stick with the lineup that got the victory on Monday night to help them keep the momentum going.
