Yesterday evening, Manchester United's manager held a press conference ahead of the second match of the Premier League season. After losing his first game in charge of the 19-time Premier League winners, he has a lot of pressure on his shoulders. In addition, there has been a lot of talk about the possible departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford.
First, Erik ten Hag was questioned about Ronaldo wanting to leave the club all summer, to which he answered that it doesn’t look that way: “Cristiano Ronaldo wished to leave? That is your assumption, not what he is telling me. I deal with the players we have, we plan with him this season, we are happy with him and now we have to fit him into the team, so he has to come to the right fitness level”.

Then, the Dutchman was questioned if he had already talked to Rashford following the interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the forward: “I’ve not spoken to him about the recent reports but he knows I really love him. He knows I want him to be here at Man United, so I will tell him that again! He’s showed already in the short time I’ve been here what he can do”.
It was also reported by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel that in addition to Erik ten Hag publicly saying that he doesn’t want Rashford to leave, the 52-year-old manager has had conversations with the club’s board that he doesn’t think they are in a position to lose a player like Rashford, let alone, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the starting lineup today against Brentford. The Portugal captain has trained with his teammates for over two weeks now and should be match fit at this point. On the other hand, the Englishman started last week against Brentford and missed two easy chances in front of goal, but he has been backed by Erik ten Hag and most likely will play today.
