Last night, Manchester United got their third win in a row in the Premier League after defeating Leicester City away at the King Power Stadium. When the starting line-ups were first announced, everyone was surprised to see that Erik ten Hag had decided to repeat the starting XI for the third consecutive game.

This meant Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro would start the match sitting on the bench once again. After the final whistle, the Dutch manager talked to the English media and explained later that he stuck with the same team because he wanted to maintain momentum going with the players that got the first two wins of the season.

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro’s game time, he said: “Once Casemiro and Ronnie get fitter and fitter, we will have more contributions to give to the team. Casemiro has to get used to a different league. He has achieved everything possible and for now, has to adapt to his new teammates. It is really early in the season, so we need not only a team, but a squad”.

He then was asked if Antony could be making his debut with the Red Devils this Sunday against Arsenal, he asked for patience since today it was his first day at the club and he hasn’t trained with the rest of his new teammates: “We have to see. Today he did his first training individual, and then we have two team sessions and we will see for Sunday”.

A difficult task ahead

The former Ajax manager will face arguably his biggest challenge so far as Manchester United’s boss in the next couple of days. He and the team only have two days to recover, prepare, and train before this Sunday’s fixture against the Premier League leaders Arsenal. There should be some adjustments in the starting XI since the same players must be tired after playing three games in a row.
