Just before the transfer window shut down, there were two Manchester United academy players that completed their loan moves during yesterday’s transfer deadline day. Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff advised some young players this summer to go out and try to find a club for this season in order to gain more first-team experience.

Ethan Galbraith will play for Salford City for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign in what will be his second loan move away from Old Trafford. Last season the 21-year-old midfielder played for Doncaster Rovers in Ligue One where he participated in 36 games. He also was captain of Northern Ireland’s U-21 national team in the European Championship qualifiers.

The other player that will be loaned out until June of next year is Will Fish, who will play for Hibernian from the Scottish Premiership. This will also be his second loan in recent years, as he spent six months at Stockport County in one of the lower tiers of English football. This move will be an upgrade for the 19-year-old centre-back as he will play in the top division of Scotland.

Both players have captained either Manchester United’s U-21 teams or their national team’s U-21 team throughout their short careers. This loan move also shows that they are not afraid of getting out of their comfort zone as they decided to leave for a year in order to get more first-team experience outside of Old Trafford. Hopefully, they can feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans in the future.

Other loanees

Ethan Galbraith and Will Fish have now joined the list of young players that have left the club this summer on loan deals. Alvaro Fernandez, Hannibal Mejbri, and Amad Diallo will all spend one year in the EFL Championship. While other more experienced players will play for more important teams like Dean Henderson and Alex Telles.
