Yesterday afternoon was one of the toughest days for Manchester United fans as they saw their team concede four goals against Brentford. Sadly, the first two goals were in great part David De Gea’s responsibility. The ball slipped through his gloves in the first goal, and for the second one, he gave the ball to Christian Eriksen when he had two rivals close to him.
After his terrible performance, the 31-year-old goalkeeper asked to do the post-match interview with ‘Sky Sports’. De Gea took all the blame away from his teammates: “I cost three points to my team today and it was a poor performance from myself. It was a horrible day. I should save the first shot and the result would be different. Sometimes I may have to read the game better and go long”.

Erik ten Hag apologizes to the Manchester United fans after today's defeat
Just two days ago, it was reported by numerous sources that Manchester United and Erik ten Hag were looking for a new goalkeeper on the market who can compete with the Spanish player for a place in the starting eleven. Although De Dea’s performance yesterday can be used as an argument that they need a backup keeper, it looks like the club still has faith in him.
Fabrizio Romano informed last night that some MUFC sources have confirmed to him that they want to believe in David De Gea. Apparently, Ten Hag also thinks he can still play under him and adjust to his system as he said yesterday after the match: “I’m convinced he can do it. I’ve seen it in training”, said the Dutchman.
At the moment, Tom Heaton is the second-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford after Dean Henderson was loaned out to Nottingham Forest. However, ‘Deano’ might never come back after his recent comments about the club. For this reason, it was reported that the Red Devils had added Southampton’s Alex McCarthy to their shortlist.
