Ahead of the second game of the Premier League season, Manchester United manager held a scheduled press conference where he was questioned about his team loosing the first game of the season and about the club’s new transfer targets that have been circulating around in the last couple of weeks.
When he was questioned about the potential new signings arriving when the season has already started and if he wasn’t happy with the recruitment department, he said: “We cooperate well and it is to my satisfaction and, of course, it was better to get the players in because then you get earlier in the process. We are happy with what we've done”.
Manchester United, all or nothing to sign Frenkie De Jong
Alvaro Morata is a real possibility for Manchester United
The Dutch manager confirmed that the team is looking for new signings on the middle and forward part of the pitch as he said they are just one injury away from catastrophe : “Now we are in the department of midfield and offense, you have seen when we have one injury that we have a problem”, referring to Anthony’s Martial’s hamstring injury.
Despite all this, he remains calm as the final weeks of the transfer window approach: “Of course, there are developments in the transfer market, but still, we have to get the players in who can contribute and not get players in who cannot do. Then we have to do with the squad and then we have to improve the team. At the end of the day, the season is long”.
As Erik ten Hag confirmed, some new midfielders will be arriving, which more likely will be Adrien Rabiot and Frenkie De Jong if he finally decides to come. Also he said he’s looking for attackers, so the rumors of Cody Gakpo, Álvaro Morata, and Saša Kalajdzić could be true and maybe we could see one or two of them arriving in the next couple of weeks.
