Manchester United and Ajax have finally reached an agreement on the transfer of Antony Matheus dos Santos for a €100 million fee with add-ons included. The player will sign his contract tomorrow until 2027 with an option to extend it for one more year, until 2028. The 22-year-old will travel to Manchester next week, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian reporter also added that the former Ajax and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was a key part when he decided to jump into the negotiations two days ago. The chief executive of Ajax remained calm and relaxed until both clubs finally found the best solution that suited all three parties involved.

Romano claims that the Dutch club didn’t want to negotiate a deal for Antony at all in the last three of four days. However, Antony’s exclusive interview with him definitely helped the transfer to go through. The young Brazilian told Fabrizio Romano in an interview that he had asked Ajax to be sold since February of this year and applied pressure on the club into selling him.

It is being reported that Antony had been planning on leaving Amsterdam for quite some time, but when he heard that his manager was leaving for Manchester United, he wanted to reunite with him because he considers him more than just a manager. Erik ten Hag was the one who brought him out from Brazil and made him one of the best players in the world.

Reunited

Now Erik ten Hag and Antony will be together once again. Only this time, there will be more pressure since they are at Manchester United now, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Hopefully the young forward can handle the pressure of his price tag and play with the same smile on his face that he did during his time with ten Hag at Ajax.
