Dean Henderson continues performing well with Nottingham Forest at the start of the season. The 25-year-old goalkeeper will spend a year at with the Tricky Trees on loan, after deciding to leave Manchester United in order to get more game time so he could be called up by England’s manager Gareth Southgate, to the FIFA World Cup in November.

Last weekend on the first game of the season, Henderson was named Man Of The Match in his team’s 1-0 victory against West Ham, which was Nottingham’s Premier League win in over 23 years. The keeper made four saves and saved a penalty kick from Declan Rice in what was an incredible game for him.

All that happened while Manchester United lost 4-0 away against Brentford. The Red Devil’s first choice goalkeeper David De Gea had an awful performance. The 31-year-old made two terrible mistakes in the Bees first two goals. Then he ended up conceding other two goals in just 35 minutes of the match, which had fans worried.

Today, Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 against Everton and Dean Henderson had an outstanding game once again. “Deano” made 64 touches, 40 passes, 7 saves, 6 long balls, 2 clearances and just one goal conceded. Today, he didn’t just prove he is good down the sticks, but he is also great with the ball on his feet, which is what the Dutch manager likes.

The goalkeeper situation

It has been reported during this week that Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are looking for a new backup goalie who can compete with David De Gea this season. So far, Yann Sommer, Alex McCarthy, and Asmir Begovic. However, after Dean Henderson’s performances this season, they are contemplating the possibility of giving him a second chance next year.
